multi-goal web app

May - Oct 2019
Boston

Planning and Guidance Center is Fidelity’s customer portal for all things financial planning. Its main objective is to help people make informed decisions about their financial future. I had the opportunity to be a part of an initiative which aims to improve the self-lead planning experience on PGC. The project was kicked-off through a Google Venture Design Sprint, which helped level set the main objectives, ideas, and priorities for the project. At the end of the Design Sprint week, we were able to test and get valuable learning from actual users. In the weeks following, my team focused on designing a mobile-first web app for MVP which would later be tested with clients.

Retirement Guidance

Jun 2018 - May 2019
Boston

The Retirement Overview page on fidelity.com was underperforming — we had internal data which showed low engagement and high drop off rate. With that challenge at hand, I lead my team to come up with a few hypotheses which aimed to suggest a possible solution. We did a lab study on the page in question with 6 participants and gathered valuable feedback which revealed the users’ main pain points and proved some of our initial hypotheses right. I lead a Design Thinking workshop, which helped align the entire team in empathizing with our users, creating a problem statement, coming up with some big ideas and drafting a plan for prioritizing goals.

Next phase was coming up with some preliminary concepts for user flows which aimed to outline the long term project goal, including how the overview page connects with the underlying children pages. These were extremely helpful in being able to visualize solutions early on, discuss priorities and technical feasibility.

We settled on final two designs for the overview page, which serves as a gateway to the underlying wealth of information for upcoming retirees. The two options were tested through A/B in-market test and the winning version went live of fidelity.com, showing increased performance and retention rate.

alpha search

I was the lead designer at the inception and throughout the launch of Alpha Search, which is an innovative initiative for Asset Management, with the potential to truly change the way portfolio managers consume research on a daily basis. Targeting a high-profile user group, which encounters enormous amount of information daily, Alpha Search aims to become a one-stop-shop for research consumption. Combining traditional (such as internal and external broker research) and alternative data sources (such as Glassdoor, LinkedIn and other social media platforms), Alpha Search is the most robust search engine the department has to date. Combined with intuitive user experience and visually pleasing design, the project quickly became highly visible and won a solid user base.

Streams is a research streaming application, which aimed to redefine the speed and ease of consuming vendor and internal research to inform investment decisions. Born as a replacement for an old legacy app, Streams introduced an innovative approach to browsing through a large library of documents, through search and smart filters and facets. Together with modern look and feel, Streams introduced a new, fresh and innovative approach which was well received by users due to its increased usability and clean look and feel.
